Breakfast

Full English Breakfast is served in the farmhouse kitchen from the Aga.

Evening meals are superbly catered for by the great variety of good local pubs and restaurants. Only a short distance away is the renowned Le Manoir au Quat Saisons, and The Crazy Bear, and in Chalgrove itself we are lucky to have the Red Lion.  In nearby villages the Lamb at Little Milton, The Home Sweet Home Roke, Chequers at Berrick, Lord Nelson at Brightwell Baldwin and The Plough at Great Haseley all of which have been highly recommended by our guests.

Outside

This is a lovely area to sit over a cup of tea and watch red kites, which are a common sight here. The garden extends all around the cottage and is often visited by ducks from the brook.

Cavalier Cottage is about halfway along the Shakespeare Way (between the Globe Theatre, London and Stratford-on-Avon) reflected in the many local theatres and the good walking routes about, such as the Ridgeway and the Thames Path.

Also handy for visiting Oxford by bus  - TV home of Morse and Lewis. There is even a Midsomer Trail for all Midsomer Murders/Barnaby fans too, details on the Visit Oxfordshire website.

Chalgrove is a large village with shops, pubs and post office, and a number of historic buildings such as our Grade 1 listed St Mary's Church, Chalgrove Manor and Mill.
